The Adventures of Pinocchio
The vivid, classic tale of a puppet who wanted to be a real boy.
It began with a piece of wood that laughed! Master Cherry was frightened, so he gave it to his friend Geppetto, known as 'Polendina' for his yellow cornmeal wig. Geppetto carved a puppet, but before he was finished, the nose grew long, and the feet kicked him! 'You rascal!' cried Geppetto. As soon as Pinocchio learned to walk, he ran out the door, with poor Geppetto chasing him down the street.

Ignoring the advice of a wise Talking Cricket, Pinocchio met a Fox who pretended to be lame and a Cat who pretended to be blind. 'Why go to school?' they whispered slyly. 'Come to the Field of Miracles! Plant your gold piece, and a tree of money will grow!' Naive Pinocchio believed them. He buried his coin and waited, but the wicked pair dug it up and vanished, leaving him penniless and weeping in the dark.
Later, a mysterious wagon arrived, drawn by little donkeys wearing white leather boots. 'All aboard for the Land of Toys!' shouted the Coachman. 'No schools, no books, only play!' Pinocchio jumped on. For five months, he had fun, but one morning he woke up with two long, hairy ears! He tried to call for help, but could only bray 'Hee-haw!' He was turning into a donkey to be sold at the market!

Desperate, he swam into the ocean and was swallowed by the Terrible Dogfish, a sea monster as big as a mountain! In the dark, cavernous stomach, he saw a faint light using a table. It was Geppetto! The old man had been living inside the monster for two years on ship supplies. 'Father!' cried Pinocchio. They hugged, weeping with joy, and plotted a daring escape through the monster's open mouth while it slept.

They swam to shore on the back of a helpful Tuna. Pinocchio worked hard to care for his frail father. One morning, he woke to find the old puppet lifeless on a chair, and looking in the mirror, he saw a real boy with chestnut hair and blue eyes! The Fairy with Azure Hair had kept her promise. 'Boys who love their parents deserve to be happy,' she said.
